History of Stubblefield Funeral Home
Stubblefield Funeral Home was started in 1953 by brothers Joseph Pryer Stubblefield and Clarence Stubblefield, and Joseph’s son, Fred. When Clarence left the business in the mid-1950s, Herbert Mayes became a partner.
Some years later, Joseph and Fred bought Herbert’s share. Joseph Stubblefield passed away in 1966, leaving Fred Stubblefield to operate the funeral home. Fred sold the funeral home in 1987 and his son, Larry Stubblefield, continued to manage it.
Stubblefield Funeral Home moved to its location on East Andrew Johnson Highway in 1996.
